Upcycled Curtains

Upcycled Curtains

I found this fabric at Goodwill for $6 and made curtains out of them! There is about 4-5x more fabric of this leftover sitting around waiting to be upcycled.

Anyone want curtains? I can’t have green covering all 250 square feet of my apartment…

My New Hobby

My New Hobby

As a part of my upcycling movement, which in my opinion helps save the earth one little scrap piece at a time (every bit counts, right?), I got a sewing machine! Can’t wait to turn old t shirts into yoga pants or old button down shirts into super cute skirts.

Do you know how many pounds of water and amount of resources that go into making your clothes? http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com/news-how-much-water-are-you-wearing Check it out here- about 900-1500 lbs for each pair of jeans.

Upcycling

My wholeiness blog has been transforming from what’s good for the body into what’s good in general. ¬†One of the latest hobbies I’ve been getting into is ‘upcycling’, which Wikipedia defines as “the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.”

For example, I turned an old lotion bottle, which 90% doesn’t even get recycled completely (my assumption…), into a hanging toothbrush and toothpaste holder covered in a cute shabby chic outside. ¬†Photos of my upcycling to come later…
