Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda

Nellie's All Natural Laundry Soda

I love Nellie’s all natural landry soda.. i’ve been using it for months now and love it so much, i decided to go for the 100 load tin! (i originally bought the 50 load tin to see if i’d like it).  I would love it if all my friends and family would switch to all natural laundry detergent because 1. it’s comparable in price 2. it’s not that much of a effort; once you have it, it lasts awhile and 3. it’s so much better for you, especially if you have kids and babies!

Nellie’s is all natural meaning it has no chemicals that can be soaked in through your skin after your clothes have been washed, no artificial fragrances, is safe for the environment and better for your washer and dryer.

The truth about Tide and other household laundry detergents:
Most laundry detergents in your typical grocery store contain the following, which can be absorbed by your skin after washing your clothes:
Petroleum distillates (aka napthas), which have been linked to cancer
Phenols, which can cause toxicity throughout the entire body
Artificial fragrances, which have been linked to various toxic effects on fish and mammals
Phosphates, which stimulate the growth of certain marine plants when they’re released into the environment and contribute to unbalanced ecosystems
Optical brighteners, which can be toxic to fish and can cause bacterial mutations and allergic reactions
(from http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2007/07/12/how-toxic-is-your-average-laundry-detergent.aspx)

Also, most detergents and household products have 1,4 Dioxane, which is known to be an allergen, linked to reproductive and endocrine disruption… and cancer. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bill-chameides/14-dioxane-and-laundry-so_b_1498246.html)

UPDATE: 12/3/12

Thanks to my friend, Diane (today is her birthday by the way!!!), I decided to put in a cost analysis of Nellie’s vs. Tide.

On Amazon, Nellie’s is $16.92 for a 100 load tin and $9.25 for a 50 load bag.  This means a load of laundry is 17 cents and 19 cents each, respectively.

Using Google to find the average price for the standard Tide’s Original 32 oz. 50 load bottle, Tide is 28 cents a load.

Start counting your pennies towards a healthier you!
